Chicken Soup For The Chiropractic Soul

Chicken Soup For The Chiropractic Soul

Most of us are familiar with the series of successful books “Chicken Soup for the Soul”. Well, now one more has been added to that group which speaks the truth and success of chiropractic care. “Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul,” by best-selling authors Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen and Dr. Fabrizio Mancini.

In a review of the book, Dr. Eric Plasker states, “Inside the pages of this profoundly moving book, you will find real life stories of people who survived and triumphed over illness with the help of the chiropractic wellness model. Among the dozens of incredible testimonials are stories about newborns, athletes and average citizens whose lives have been miraculously changed by the healing touch of chiropractors.”

The book contains a series of testimonials from individuals whose lives had been changed by chiropractic. IOne such notable testimonial was from Olympic Triathlon Gold medalist Dan O’Brien, ” have gone from the depths of despair and failure to the pinnacle of athletic and personal victory. It’s been a long, sometimes anguishing, and much-publicized journey. Through it all, one thing is absolutely certain – if not for chiropractic, I would not have won the gold! ” He went on to say, “I can honestly say, in the last five years, it has remarkably improved my overall wellness. I hardly ever get sick and I don’t get headaches. Chiropractic helps in injury prevention, and dramatically improves recovery – which is crucial, because I’ve found that the body cannot heal itself if it’s not in alignment”

Other stories in the book include a Vietnam veteran and former POW who wins the state golf tournament for amputees after years away from the game, a man without hope regains lost vision, an “infertile” woman who gives birth to a healthy baby girl and a child freed from migraines grows up to help others with the same problem.

Dr. Fabrizio Mancini, one of the co-authors of the book sums up the book by saying. “As you begin to read Chicken Soup for the Chiropractic Soul we hope that you will be inspired and moved by the heart warming stories of people like yourself who have chosen chiropractic for a holistic approach to healing, pain relief, and lifelong wellness. Many of the stories will sound miraculous to you – and to those who experienced them, they were indeed miracles. But once you understand the underlying philosophy of chiropractic they are not really miraculous at all; they are just the results of the body’s innate healing power being released to do its work.”

At McClellan Family Chiropractic, we believe that the Power that made the body can heal the body. You ought to consider checking out chiropractic care for you and your family.

Neck Problems

Neck Problems

Neck problems cause discomfort and are often caused by poor posture or overuse. Fortunately, the symptoms of neck problems can usually be treated at home, although persistent or worsening pain might require medical care.

Types
Stiffness of the neck,  dull aches or sharp pains, popping sounds, difficult movement, and pain that extends into the shoulders or back are symptoms of neck problems.

Causes
Symptoms of neck problems are caused by worn joints; strained muscles; bone or nerve disorders; infections; injuries; and bad posture.

Effects
Neck problems can make it difficult to engage in daily activities such as driving or reading, and can cause difficulty getting comfortable while resting or sleeping.

Considerations
People who have recently experienced an auto accident or fall and have symptoms of neck problems should seek urgent care because of the possibility of a broken bone in the neck.

Treatments
Symptoms of neck problems can often be treated with self-care such as rest, ice, heat, and massage; pain relievers, prescription medication, immobilization and surgery might be necessary for severe problems.

Prevention/Solution
Taking frequent breaks while driving or using a computer; stretching the neck and shoulders; maintaining good posture; using headsets for cell phones; and good sleep hygiene are techniques that can reduce symptoms of neck problems.

Any neck problem should be taken seriously. Make your next stop at your chiropractor so you can be properly checked out. You will be glad you did!

Neck Pain and Chiropractic Care

Neck Pain and Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic Care of Neck Pain

When you visit our office complaining of neck pain, we will perform exams to locate the source of your pain and will ask you questions about your current symptoms and remedies you may have already tried. For example:

When did the pain start?

What have you done for your neck pain?

Does the pain radiate or travel to other parts of your body?

Does anything reduce the pain or make it worse?

We will also do physical and neurological exams. In the physical exam, we will observe your posture, range of motion, and physical condition, noting movement that causes pain. We will feel your spine, note its curvature and alignment, and feel for muscle spasm. A check of your shoulder area is also in order. During the neurological exam, we will test your reflexes, muscle strength, other nerve changes, and pain spread.

In some instances, we might order tests to help diagnose your condition. An x-ray can show narrowed disc space, fractures, bone spurs, or arthritis. A computerized axial tomography scan (a CT or CAT scan) or a magnetic resonance imaging test (an MRI) can show bulging discs and herniations. If nerve damage is suspected,we may order a special test called electromyography (an EMG) to measure how quickly your nerves respond.

Chiropractors are conservative care doctors; our scope of practice does not include the use of drugs or surgery. If we diagnose a condition outside of this conservative scope, such as a neck fracture or an indication of an organic disease, we will refer you to the appropriate medical physician or specialist. We may also ask for permission to inform your family physician of the care you are Read More→
